Greening of the Church 2023

The poinsettias and greenery that adorn the altar and sanctuary at St. Martin’s during the Christmas season enhance the beauty and holiness of our Church and remind us of the spirit of love and joy that this time of year represents.

We would like to invite all parishioners to donate towards the costs of these decorations and also to participate in the “Greening of the Church” on Saturday, December 23 at 9am.

Please send your donations to the Church Office (1350 Washington Valley Rd, Bridgewater, NJ 08807) and email the church to let the office know of your donation (stmartinschurchnj@gmail.com). Make checks payable to St. Martin’s Episcopal Church and please specify “Christmas Flowers” in the memo section of the check. You can also make a secure, online donation here – please specify “Christmas Flowers” in the Fund dropdown.

Thank you for your support of St. Martin’s and the Christmas Greens and Flower Fund. Please call the Church Office if you have any questions – 908-526-1350.

Open House – December 10, 2023

St. Francis of Assisi erected the first nativity scene on December 15, 1223. This year marks the 800th anniversary of this special remembrance of our Lord’s birth. In celebration, we will be filling the nave with nativity scenes from the Second Sunday of Advent until the Sunday after the Epiphany.

If you have a small nativity scene that you would be willing to display on one of the window sills, please let Father Rob know. Alternatively, you may wish to create your nativity scene to display. Small nativity scenes will be displayed in the windows; larger ones will be displayed on tables along the west wall. Both the Sunday School children and the St. Martin’s School children will create nativity scenes to display.

I hope you all will participate in this special celebration. During Advent, there will be an Open House on December 10th. A reception of appetizers and beverages will be provided. Please email Alison if you are able to bring an appetizer or beverage.

You can begin bringing in your nativity scenes on Sunday Dec. 3. Please make sure to place a label with your name beneath your nativity scene. Place them in the conference room.
